These Are My Confessions

Using the Word to Lean In, Not away

INTRODUCTION

These confessions are born out of a difficult season. A season which is still ongoing.

A season of crisis both in the loud sense and also one which brings on a lot of pressure -the kind that exposes what you reach for when answers don’t come quickly and clarity feels delayed. In this season, I myself needing something deeper than encouragement and more stable than emotion. I needed to stay grounded, yes — but I also wanted to grow, not merely endure.

In challenging times, it’s easy to either pull away or power through. I’ve learned that neither brings life. What is carrying me is leaning in — not to my own strength or understanding, but toward God Himself. And I’ve noticed something about my faith in these moments: the darker it gets, the more I lean in.

These confessions are not a reaction to fear, nor are they an attempt to control outcomes. They are a deliberate return to alignment. A way of letting God’s Word recalibrate my inner world — my thoughts, emotions, responses, and expectations — so that I am being formed, not hardened, by what I’m walking through.

This is not about denying difficulty. It’s about refusing to let difficulty have the final voice. These confessions are how I stay rooted, how I stay teachable, and how I continue to draw nearer to God in the middle of it all.

These are my confessions. Whether or not you are going through a difficult season, they too can become your confessions.

THE CHARACTER OF GOD — PERSONALIZED WORSHIP CONFESSIONS

Before I speak about who I am or what I need, I return to who God is. These confessions are not requests; they are acknowledgements. They steady my heart by reminding me that God’s power is not threatened by circumstance, His goodness is not diminished by delay, and His faithfulness does not fluctuate with my emotions.

In seasons where answers are unclear or the path feels heavy, I find it necessary to re-anchor myself in the unchanging character of God — His greatness, His sovereignty, His mercy, and His rule. Worship, for me, is not an escape from reality; it is a return to truth.

These confessions help me lift my eyes from what feels overwhelming and rest them on who God has always been — and always will be.

AUTHORITY IN CHRIST — PERSONALIZED SCRIPTURE CONFESSIONS

Authority in Christ is not about control or dominance; it is about position. It begins with understanding where I stand — not in my own strength, but under and within the authority Jesus secured. These confessions remind me that I do not face life from a place of inferiority or fear, but from union with Christ.

When circumstances press in or opposition feels close, I return to these truths to realign my posture. Authority does not mean the absence of challenge; it means I am not powerless within it. I am not striving for authority — I am learning to stand in what has already been given.

These confessions help me live aware of my position in Christ, so I respond from faith rather than react from pressure.

REPENTANCE — PERSONALIZED SCRIPTURE CONFESSIONS

Repentance is not a collapse into guilt; it is a return to alignment. These confessions exist to keep my heart soft, honest, and responsive before God. They remind me that drawing near to Him always includes humility — not fear of rejection, but confidence in His mercy.

In seasons of growth or crisis, repentance becomes a gift. It clears what clouds my discernment and restores intimacy where distraction, pressure, or self-reliance may have crept in. I do not approach repentance as punishment, but as an invitation to be renewed, refreshed, and re-oriented toward truth.

These confessions help me turn fully toward God again — trusting that His kindness leads me back, every time.

GRATITUDE — PERSONALIZED THANKSGIVING CONFESSIONS

Gratitude recentres my perspective. It shifts my attention from what is unresolved to what has already been given, from what feels heavy to what is still held in grace. These confessions help me remember that even in difficult seasons, God’s goodness has not been absent.

Gratitude, for me, is not denial of pain or complexity. It is recognition. It is choosing to notice life, mercy, provision, and salvation — especially on ordinary days. When I practice gratitude, my heart becomes less anxious and more aware of God’s steady presence.

These confessions help me stay awake to blessing, and grounded in thanksgiving, no matter the season I’m in.

IDENTITY IN CHRIST — PERSONALIZED SCRIPTURE CONFESSIONS

Identity shapes everything. How I think, how I respond, what I tolerate, and what I believe is possible all flow from who I understand myself to be. These confessions bring me back to the truth that my identity is not earned through effort, defined by circumstance, or diminished by failure.

In uncertain or stretching seasons, it is easy to allow roles, outcomes, or expectations to speak louder than truth. These confessions help me return to the foundation — that I belong to Christ, that I am secure in Him, and that my life is rooted in what He has already accomplished.

These words are not about becoming someone new; they are about remembering who I already am in Christ and living from that place.

These confessions remind me that I am not fighting for victory, but living from the victory Christ has already secured. They help me stay alert without becoming anxious, and confident without becoming combative.

In seasons of pressure, confusion, or resistance, I return to these truths to steady my posture. Warfare, for me, is less about confrontation and more about alignment — choosing truth over accusation, peace over panic, and obedience over reaction.

In seasons where uncertainty touches finances, resources, or the future, I return to these truths to resist fear and remain grounded. Scripture consistently presents God as Provider — not distant or reluctant, but present and purposeful in His supply.

In seasons where strength fluctuates or healing feels slow, I return to these truths to steady my heart. Healing, in Scripture, is not only about physical restoration, but about wholeness — the ongoing work of God bringing life, renewal, and peace where there has been weariness or pain.

In a world that feels increasingly uncertain, these words help me release the weight of control and return to faith. I am reminded that God sees what I cannot, goes where I cannot, and covers my children in ways I never could on my own.

These confessions remind me that biblical parenting is not about perfection or control, but about faithfulness, presence, and guidance rooted in God’s wisdom. They help me return to God as my source when I feel stretched, uncertain, or inadequate.

In the everyday moments — teaching, correcting, listening, and loving — I need more than instinct or effort. I need discernment, patience, and humility. These confessions anchor my parenting in Scripture, reminding me that God is actively at work in my children’s lives, even when progress feels slow or unseen.

In relationships where loving feels costly or misunderstood, I return to these truths to recalibrate my heart. God’s love does not ignore truth, and it does not abandon wisdom, but it does remain steadfast, patient, and anchored in grace.

In seasons where pain, disappointment, or betrayal surface, I return to these truths to remain aligned with Christ. They help me extend grace without self-erasure, and love without losing wisdom. I release others into God’s hands — trusting Him with justice, healing, and redemption in ways I cannot control.
